ASO Board vacancies - applications close 18th April

Dear Gustavo We wanted to remind you that ASO is recruiting to our Board of Trustees and Operational Committees. Trustees will support the strategic planning and governance of the organisation and the adverts for these vacancies are below. Details of the Operational Committee vacancies can be found here.

The Board of Trustees has ultimate responsibility for directing the affairs of the association, and ensuring that it is solvent, well-run, and delivering the charitable outcomes for which it has been set up. Day to day management of the charity's affairs (such as such as planning conferences, events, ECR and COMs meetings, awards, and research funding) is managed by ASO operational committees. Board membership is voluntary and unpaid though standard class travelling expenses incurred because of ASO business are reimbursed.

What we are looking for

We encourage applications from potential trustees who are committed to ASO and passionate about its cause, have strategic vision and good, independent judgement. We are particularly looking for people who have skills and experience in any of the following areas:

Legal skills Digital technology and social media Communication and Influence

Governance Strategic decision making Finance/ Accountancy

It is anticipated that the Board of Trustees will have two 3-hour meetings a year. Examples of responsibilities of the Board of Trustees include reviewing and approving the ASO budget, policies, risk register, and reporting to members at the AGM. How to apply

Please complete the online application form by no later than 9:00am on Thursday 18th April 2024. You will be advised of the outcome of your application by close of play on Wednesday 24th April.

Interviews Eligible candidates will be invited for an informal interview by the current Chair of the Board of Trustees and one other Trustee to review alignment with ASO values and experience related to the Trustee role. Interviews will be held on the 2nd or 3rd May 2024.

Appointment Process: All ASO Trustees are elected by the ASO members. The details of eligible candidates who have been shortlisted following interview will be shared with ASO members who will make the final decision by election. The ASO member voting will be complete in summer 2024.
