Re: Chemistry Networks Event

Dear Deborah,

I am happy to send something out for you. How about this as a draft, I suggest it should come from John directly?

=======

Dear Faculty members,

The Department will be holding an inaugural Chemistry Networks event. We have invited contacts from industry to provide an overview of our Department and our Science, followed by a drinks reception, at which our students and postdocs will present posters in all scientific areas.

We would like to invite you to the event, which to be held during the afternoon and early evening of Thursday September 29th 2016. Please feel free to pass on the invitation to other academic members, who you think would benefit from the event.

Please register for the event here: https://goo.gl/forms/PY5NBvhK1ZlmZL3r1

We are very much looking forward to welcoming you on the 29th!

Kind regards

Dear all,

Thanks for getting the e-mails out today.  It will be interesting to see what response we get and how the actual event shapes up.

I'm on holiday from the end of today until the Bank Holiday Monday but will respond to e-mail if you need an answer on anything.  In the mean time, Alice Wood will be keeping a track of the sign up.

I think it would be good to let Faculty know the event is happening.

John/Nick/Yolande - is that better coming from one of you or do you want me to send it out?  Please let me know.

Do let me know if there are any bounces, I will investigate!

Many Thanks,

Dear All,
We are happy to send this out. Just send us a list of the email
addresses it should be sent to?
Best wishes

Dear All,
Okay, lets have it come from HoD address….. with me cc'd in (and
all the invitees bcc'd in)
Debs; let me know when you hear from the students in case we can
make final edit to the flyer- otherwise we go with the last version
in interests of time
I will continue compiling a list of invitee and if possible run this
by Nick B later, format that into something which can be cut and
paste into the Bcc field, then forward to Daphne/Klaudia

Dear all, it could come from the HoD email - definitely not my
research address. In which case Daf and/or Klaudia would get first
look. I'm happy to be guided by Yo ( and Daf). I couldn't access the
flyer - bit rate here is terribly slow. Best, J

Dear both,
I'm happy to be guided by you both on this. They should use the
link to register because it is in the e-mail (draft below) but if
familiarity with you is going to be helpful, then perhaps coming
from you is better, Yolande.
Happy either way - what do you think, John?

Dear Friends,
We at the Department of Chemistry, Cambridge University are
delighted to invite you to our inaugural Chemistry Networks event,
to be held during the afternoon and early evening of Thursday
September 29th 2016.
An overview of our Department and our Science will be followed by a
drinks reception, at which our students and postdocs will present
posters in all scientific areas and you will have the opportunity to
mingle with us in an informal setting.
If you wish to attend, there is no cost but we would greatly
appreciate it if you would please register so that we can get the
catering requirements right:

Hi Debs,
Sorry, but I've just had another thought about this. If the
invitees don't read the flyer and use the link, they may just
reply by email in which case John may get inundated? Unless we have
Klaudia on standby to forward to Alice, then delete?
Also, I'm wondering whether if it comes from my email address the
companies I am already in dialogue with / have met, might make the
connection better? But then so as not to lose the "weight" of
the HoD invite we could say "Dear Friends, the HoD of Dept of Chem &
colleagues invite you to…….."
let me know what you think, its a tough one!

Dear John,
Yolande and I wondered if you would be willing for the invitation
that goes out to all the industry contacts we want to invite to the
above event to be sent from you? Please let us know what you think.
The flyer is also attached, which we would like to send with that
e-mail (student designed, of course!). Let us know what you think.
